[German]Microsoft has made available for download the ISO image file of Windows 10 20H2 (October 2020 Update) with build 19042.631 in its Techbench program. Here are some information about it and how to get this ISO file.

Build 19042.631 contains Kerberos fix

The Windows 10 October 2020 Update (20H2) Build 19042.631 is rolled out by default by the cumulative update KB4594440. It is an out-of-band update for Windows 10 version 2004 and version 20H2 which is intended to fix the Kerberos authentication problem (see also Windows-Updates with Fix for Kerberos-Authentication-Problem (11/19/2020)).

The colleagues of deskmodder.de noticed now that Microsoft has provided the Windows 10 20H2 19042.631 ISO in the Techbench program. In this article there are some hints about the ISO.

But the links given at deskmodder.de are already expired, because Microsoft discards Techbench download links after 24 hours.

What is Techbench?

Microsoft Techbench Windows 10 Iso

As part of its TechBench program, Microsoft enables service providers, for example, to access the ISO installation images of various Microsoft products. However, access to these downloads is quite difficult for normal users, and the Techbench download links are discarded after 24 hours.

Creating download links with Adguard

If you need the ISO file to install Windows 10 version 20H2, you can get it from the adguard page. Adguard allows users to select the desired download using a form and then generates the download links for the relevant ISO files on Microsoft servers. So you download the ISOs from Microsoft.

The figure above shows the relevant adguard form page for selecting the Windows 10 build and the download area. I have collected some information about adguard in the blog post Tip: Download Windows- and Office ISO images using Adguard.

What you should know about 19042.631

If you urgently need to install Windows 10 20H2 Build 19042.631, you can start with the above ISO file. This file then has the patch for the Kerberos authentication problem integrated. However, there is a bug in build .631 that prevents a repair installation via Inplace Update (installation of Windows 10 over a running Windows 10). No data can be transferred. Only the update KB4586853 released for Windows 10 2004 and 20H2 on November 30, 2020, fixes this Inplace Update Bug (see blog post Windows 10 2004/20H2: Update KB4586853).
