Using Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra and GarageBand (or Logic Express 7, Logic Pro 7), there are virtually no limits to the types of sophisticated music you can create. Taking advantage of the prerecorded Apple Loops (more than 2,000 in Jam Pack 4), you can compose everything from classical music to movie soundtracks. I just installed GarageBand 4.1.2, part of iLife 8.0.2. I own Logic Studio and I installed the Jam Packs and Soundtrack Pro Loops onto an external firewire drive. I am attempting to re-index GarageBand to access all these new loops. I trashed all the indexes and when I open up the loop browser in GB, GarageBand comes up stating that there are no Apple Loops available. I drag the 'Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro' onto the Loop Browser, a message comes up asking if I want to use these loops in their current location, I answer yes, and it indexes them into GB. I can do the same for the original GB loops as well. BUT, when I attempt to do the exact same sequence for the Jam Packs, nothing happens. The Jam packs are located in the same external firewire drive as the loops for SP. Their location is: drive/Library/Apple Loops/Apple/Jam Pack 1 [Jam Pack Remix Tools, Jam Pack Rhythm Section, Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra, and Jam Pack World Music] I have tried dragging in each piece of the string but indexing just does not take place. I have trashed the Indexes many times. I have not repaired preferences yet. Is there something obvious I've missed?
don't have an answer offhand... but there's a Jam Packs subforum under the Logic forum, you might find an answer there.
By the way, I don't see Jam Pack 2 or 3 - I know I installed all 6 content DVDs that came with Logic but I don't wee them anywhere in my system. I assume some of the other Jam Packs ie: Symphony Orchestra, World Music, and Rhythm Section are considered to be part of Jam Pack 2 and/or 3?
I think that's right. Jam Pack 1 is 'Jam Pack 1,' the rest get descriptive names.
